Since I fly for a living, I’ve come up with a list of items that are essential for staying comfortable and happy on long flights! I am also providing links with my personal recommendations.

1. Blanket / Light Jacket
Airplanes are always on the cold side because it can make people sick if it gets too warm. It is always a good idea to bring your own blanket / jacket so you can be comfortable all flight long.

3. Travel Pillow

4. Entertainment
Phone, Kindle, iPad, Magazines, etc.
Always bring your own entertainment! Download some music to your phone, bring your favorite books or kindle, download movies to your iPad. Always download things before the flight – even if the airplane is supposed to have wifi, because the connection might be bad or it might not be working! TVs on airplanes don’t always work either so come prepared just incase you get seated in an unlucky seat without any working inflight entertainment. Also, download a relaxation / white noise app to your phone to help you fall asleep – Rain Rain is my favorite.
5. Headphones / Headphone Converter
Chances are, your airplane TV will not be compatible with your new iPhone headphones. I notice this happens to customers all the time. Always bring your own noise blocking headphones that have the “old” / “original” headphone jack . If you have an iPhone and only want to bring one pair of headphones, I am linking an adaptor that will let you listening to music with your new headphones and charge your phone at the same time. I also just discovered AirFly – it lets you connect wireless headphones to wired headphone jacks. I have never used it, but I’ve seen a lot of people on my flights using it recently.
6. Portable Charger
7. Water / Snacks
Long flights dehydrate you. I know you can’t bring liquids past security, but its a good idea to bring your own water bottle and fill it up using water fountains in the airport before your flight.

8. Hand Sanitizer / Sanitizing Wipes
When you’re on an airplane full of hundreds of people for hours, you can count on being exposed to lots of germs. Sanitizer can help.

9. Hydration Products
Facial Spray, Lotion, Eye Drops, Chapstick, Etc.
Again, long flights dehydrate you and one thing I always like to bring is rose water to keep my skin hydrated. I’m linking a rose water spray that is 2 oz. so you won’t have any issues getting it past security. Also, after a long flight your eyes will probably be red and uncomfortable – I’m linking the best eye drops I’ve ever used.

10. Essential Oils
This is especially helpful if you’re a nervous flyer. Or if you are just trying to relax on a flight. Also, some blends can help strengthen your immune system to help protect against germs you come in contact with on the airplane. I love essential oils because they’re so easy to bring with you anywhere! If for nothing else, they can keep you smelling good and can help mask the smell of any unfortunate smells that might come from being in such a small space with hundreds of other people for hours.
